Futureye has developed innovative methods to assess societal attitudes, bring diverse stakeholders together, and build effective collaborations and partnerships. We create online and offline community hubs that combine participatory processes with new technology to engage, inform and strengthen discussions and decision-making. Our processes generate a greater understanding and consensus within communities and partnerships, and can provide useful information to decision-makers on shifting perspectives.
Our offline community engagement methods draw on the expertise in Futureye’s Planning and engagement practice area.

WikiCurve digital platform

WikiCurve is an online crowd-sourced community digital service driven by Futureye that enables real-time engagement on social issues. It Wikicurve helps people to understand complex issues from multiple points of view, and to collaboratively evaluate the ideas and events that shape public policy on those issues. The WikiCurve hub is built around Futureye’s social maturation curve, which assesses current societal attitudes on a particular policy issue to inform decision-making and manage risks.
Multimedia platform: The WikiCurve platform brings together multimedia content for easy sharing and analysis, including: social maturation curves; an online news centre that enables people learn about the events that have shaped social attitudes; social media feeds, campaigns and videos, such as footage from engagement and interviews of community members and key stakeholders; data and graphs; and experts in community-developed material. Futureye can help to broker media partnerships to host the curve and further boost engagement.
Informing, engaging and evolving public opinion: Using the WikiCurve hub, stakeholders interact online, learn about an issue, have their opinion heard, and influence the debate. Futureye produces online content for the hubs that synthesises and responds to stakeholders’ concerns, helping to engage all levels of interest from browsers to attentives to the highly involved. Through interacting with responsive content that listens and responds to their concerns, stakeholder opinions evolve along a planned path. For deeper engagement, the online hub can be integrated with in-person participatory processes to develop greater community consensus and generate new insights around contentious issues.
Ongoing updates: Once established, a WikiCurve hub can be used to generate ongoing insights on the shifts in social attitudes around a particular issue, helping business, governments and not-for-profit organisations assess the likelihood of public pressure for policy change, and to develop more effective policy responses.
