The third Symposium on Low Rank Coal is convened by the State of Victoria’s Department of State Development, Business and Innovation (DSDBI) and sponsored by the International Energy Agency Clean Coal Centre and the Electric Power Research Institute and focuses on the issues, opportunities, challenges and drivers facing the low rank coal industry globally. The invitation-only event provides an opportunity for participants to exchange information and insights on issues like what is required of Governments to develop low rank coal, development investment, the future demand for energy and what part low rank coal can play in meeting it.

Futureye Associate Brendan Lee has been invited to speak about Social Licence lessons learned from the Queensland Underground Coal Gasification trial. Brendan is an environmental practitioner with twelve years’ experience working in the regulatory industry, NGO and consulting fields. His primary focus has been on environmental management in the energy and resources sector, with an emphasis on strategic compliance and beyond compliance projects.

The Symposium will be held in Melbourne, Australia from 28 April and 30 April 2014.
