About

Mike Hill has more than two decades of experience working closely with the local government sector providing ongoing support, commentary and consulting support in the areas of sustainability, governance, community development and consultation and engagement. His various positions include:

 

Eight years as a Councillor with the former City of Brunswick of which he was Mayor in 1988

Nine years as CEO of the Victorian Local Governance Association of which he was a foundation member and its first life member

Three years as a Councillor with Moreland City Council of which he was the first Mayor in 1996

Designing and chairing for the past six years the Victorian Local Sustainability Advisory Committee which oversees the implementation of the Local Sustainability Accord and provides advice to the Minister for the Environment.

Mike also has a longstanding involvement in the environment movement. His positions include:

 

  • Chair, Moreland Energy Foundation
  • Co-chair, Natural Resources and Conservation League
  • Chair, ECO-Buy Limited, a Centre for Excellence in Environmental Purchasing
  • Board member, Sustainability Victoria
  • Board member, Environment Protection Board, Victoria
  • ‘Patron’, Environs Australia
  • Member, Just Change advisory group
  • Member advisory committee, Centre for Design; and
  • Member of various environment NGOs and a participant in mentoring programs for future environmental leaders.
