About

As an author, futurist and activist, Felix has been instrumental in developing new modes of stakeholder engagement with the United Nations, particularly within the field of sustainable development.

 

Felix was Executive Director of the Stakeholder Forum for a Sustainable Future from 1992-2012 where he built it into one of the most influential NGOs in the global negotiations on sustainable development. He also managed some of the most successful stakeholder dialogues at intergovernmental meetings – in particular Bonn Water (2001 & 2004).

 

From 1997-2001 he co-chaired the Sustainable Development Coalition at the UN.  In 2002 he set up the first global network for regional government called the Network for Regional government for Sustainable Development (nrg4SD) which has become the leading voice for regional government at the UN.  In 2008 he set up and co-directed the Water and Climate Coalition which within 2 years succeed in the incorporation of water into the Climate negations.

 

In 2011 Felix chaired the United Nations DPI NGO Conference Sustainable Societies Responsive Citizens. He has written or edited ten books the latest is from Rio+20 to the new Development Agenda with Jorge Laguna Celis and Elizabeth Thompson.

 

In 2010 Green Eco Services listed Felix as one of the twenty five environmentalists ahead of their time.

 

Felix has, in the past, advised the European Union, the governments of Denmark and the UK at intergovernmental events. Dodds also served as an advisor on civil society to the Russian Government for the 2006 G8 Summit. From 2006 to 2007,

 

Felix Dodds is a fellow of the Global Research Institute at the University of North Carolina and an Associate fellow at the Tellus Institute. He is co-director of the 2014 Nexus Conference on Water Energy, Food and Climate.

 

Felix currently sits on the following the expert advisory committee for the Global Initiative for Sustainability Rating, he is a member of the Council of Advisers for the Collaborative Institute for Oceans, Climate and Security and a member of the Korean Green Cross Foreign Affairs Committee and the Environment Committee of the Asia-European Foundation.
